Deadpool Comics Online

In the comics there is no actual character concretely known as Weapon XI (Weapon X, for those who don't know, is Wolverine) although other products of military experiments have been codenamed with Weapon *roman numeral*, (for instance, Captain America has been called Weapon I). Using this, Deadpool would be known as Weapon XI, as he was the next person in the Weapon X/Plus program even though he has not explicitly been stated as such. Also, In the film he joins the Weapon X program to travel to far off places and meet new and exciting people and kill them (As heard in the 'Wade Wilson' character bio on the Marvel website), But in the comics he had joined to find a cure for his terminal cancer.

As for this character (the following information may contain spoilers) , apparently the makers of the movie took creative licenses with Deadpool/Wade Wilson's character where seems that Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) is the merc with a mouth but he's presented with no actual scars or the Deadpool replica costume known in the comics.
