The name conjures two things in my mind. The first is the King of Rubble. When it comes to drawing collapsed buildings and piles of rock I can’t think of anyone else who can do it better. The second is the man who has drawn every major Marvel and DC Comics character worth drawing. George Pérez has been an industry standard since 1973 he quickly rose from an artist’s assistant to his own force to be reckoned with. In his 30 year tour of duty George Pérez has had long and memorable runs on the Justice League, the Avengers (twice now) and the Teen Titans which outsold every other comic book being published in the early 80’s… including a title called the X-Men. Pérez became a living legend on DC’s CRISIS: On Infinite Earth’s drawing every single character in a twelve issue maxi-series, which saw the deaths of Barry Allen (the Flash) and the original Supergirl. Currently Mr. Pérez is gearing up for another run of CrossGen Comics while putting the finishing touches on Avengers/JLA, the multi company crossover so huge it took 20 years to make.
